How do I read the Bible?

Well the question is not 'how to read' but how am I reading the Bible? Am I reading the Bible to find scripture to support my way of thinking or am I reading the Bible to really find out what God has to say about a subject.

This is a serious concern of mine. Really, how do I know when I search out the scripture that I am searching for God's answers and not support to believe the way I want to believe. I see so many people using scripture to get what they want out of life. There are so many examples, how can I use one without getting into a debate. So I will just leave it here. I pray Dear Heavenly Father, each time I search your Holy Word that I put aside my ideas, and my desires. That I will allow Your Holy Word to search my soul and feed me the Bread of Life You have for me. Oh, God, I pray that I will always follow the Holy Spirit's lead as to the interpretation and not to allow any earthly man to out way Your Holy Spirit's direction and teaching. In Christ Jesus' name.
