If all a person has to do is say a 'magic prayer' to be saved than most of America will be in heaven. Take Billy Graham for example. How many thousands maybe millions of people have gone forward. If so many people are 'saved' how come our nation is so wicked, should not it be getting more holy? If so many people are truly saved how come the world is not saved.
So many people say things just to get others off of their back. Say things to impress others, say things to get what they want. Our actions speak louder than our words. Yes, works will never get one into Heaven. Works have never saved anyone nor will they ever save any one. It is our fruit in our lives that speak as to whom we serve. We cannot serve two masters. If one does not want to change, how can one enter into Eternal Life with Jesus. Does not scripture tell us that if we deny Christ we will be denied by God. How can a person say I am a born again Christian yet all of their acts are serving satan?
To many people just say the prayer, now I am saved and do not have to change. If that is all that needed to be (not saying works needed to be added, but a true heart commitment, a true belief in Jesus) the world would be saved. Scripture does not say, say this prayer and you will be saved. There is so much meaning in the words 'believe in'. Thinking about John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotton Son that whosoever believeth in His should not perish but have everlasting life." What is the true meaning of "Believeth in"? Is it just a saying, is it just confession of the mouth, is it actions, is it a change? Are not new creatures different?
Are you beginning to see how 'churches' today are giving a false sense of Salvation. That 'prayer' is like a band aide. No more to it. It is not works that needs to be to it, but a true desire and a true belief in Jesus. And our actions/fruit tell if we truly believe. Sensere not just empty words.
There are times that a person does not even know their own heart.

What you just said in your post "Salvation!" has been on my mind for a long time. I had been calling it "some magic prayer" as well. I agree with you 110%. Anything worth having takes hard work, there are always conditions to everything, including salvation. From what I have seen for far too many years coming from the pulpits and superstar preachers, is that you must get saved to avoid hell. They are making the main focus avoiding hell, not loving and serving God. They are leading people to believe that they are glory bound by simply saying a 20 second prayer, (doesn't really matter if you believe or not). That's that, "don't ever have to worry about that again". "Oh yes, and I have a license to sin now that I am "saved." It's sad, but I see this taught, followed and believed so often.
hmmm...We need to be careful of what we say...
There are no strings attached to salvation and yes, a believer *can* live in sin. If how we live shows we are saved or unsaved, when any of us compare ourselves to CHrist, none of us can possibly be shown by our life as being saved. Even if you outwardly are perfect, your thoughts are full of sin as well. Salvation is knowledge, not action...I don't agree with you post.

Christian liberty does not mean I am free to do what I please, but that I have been freed to do what pleases Christ. Furthermore, “liberty to sin” is really the worst kind of slavery! We must not be brought under the power of sin (Rom. 6). “But,” you say, “if God gave us these physical appetites, certainly He wants us to use them.” That’s right: use them, but not abuse them. Your body is the Lord’s; and if you live in sin, that sin will destroy you and God will someday judge you.
He will judge your sin, but not send you ever to hel for them--no matter what they are, He died for them all.
I had a list of all the carnal Christians in the bible but now I can't find the list. Some that come to my head would be Solomon, Job, Annanias and Saphira, Peter, even Paul said in Romans 7 how he sins so much and hates his sin...
The carnal Christians is an interesting study in the Bible. Paul is an interesting on in that group.
